How much energy does a storage building cost in Denmark?

Some Danish institutions, having storage buildings or archives still maintained with strict climate control by full air-conditioning, con-tinue to be operated at higher energy costs (30 kWh/ m3 or higher) (Ryhl-Svendsen et al. 2012).

A few of the oldest buildings experience peak summer temp-eratures of about 30°C (Table 3). Most Danish storage buildings for general collec-tions have a climate control regime, which allows 40–60% RH, which is within the ‘basic climate zone’ as discussed above.

Air quality in 36 Danish storage buildings was investigated, ranging from naturally ventilated historical buildings to modern purpose-built storage facilities, some with full HVAC climate control systems. Most were able to maintain a humidity level within 40–60% RH.
