Is Russia launching a 4G & 5G base station?

Russia is starting the production of 4G and 5G base stations that will use Russian-made software. This was announced on October 1 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. We are now launching the creation of base stations with Russian software for 4G and 5G networks. Next year, we plan to establish mass production of such solutions.

When will 5G start in Russia?

"The active deployment of 5G networks at domestic base stations will begin in 2026 in large Russian cities," the minister said, noting that preparatory work to launch the networks will take place in 2025.

Which mobile network operators are deploying 5G in Russia?

Among the four major mobile network operators in Russia, only MTS has started deploying the 5G technology, though only in a limited capacity. In March 2021, the company launched 5G in 14 popular public places in Moscow, the Russian capital. Megafon, Beeline, and Tele2 were still testing 5G in the country.

How much power does a 5G base station use?

Each nation has a different 5G strategy. For 5G, China uses 3.5GHz as the frequency. Then, a 5G base station resembles a 4G system, but it’s on a much larger scale. For sub-6GHz in 5G, let’s say you have a macro base station. The power levels at the antenna range from 40 watts, 80 watts or 100 watts.
