What happens when a lead acid battery is discharged?

The normal discharge reaction in a lead-acid battery causes the conversion of lead and lead dioxide into lead sulfate. This process leads to a reduction in the concentration of sulfuric acid within the accumulator and thus to an increase in the solubility of the lead sulfate.
