What is a typical network using LoRa® technology?

A typical network using LoRa® technology consists of the following essential parts: end devices (usually sensors), a base station or gateway, a network server and an operations support system (OSS) for provisioning and managing the network. How does LoRa technology work?

The devices use LoRa technology to communicate RF signals to the gateways, which then forward the data to the network server. The network server processes the data and can control the devices based on predefined rules or operator inputs.

What is the difference between LTE and Lora?

LoRa technology, in contrast to LTE, operates in unlicensed frequency bands, which allows building independent networks without the need to cooperate with an operator. LTE offers higher speeds and lower latency, but at the cost of greater energy consumption and dependence on the cellular network.

What is LoRaWAN protocol?

LoRaWAN is a network protocol defined by the LoRa Alliance that expands the functionality of LoRa technology. While LoRa defines only the physical transmission layer, LoRaWAN specifies the method of communication, message format, encryption, and authentication.
