Multiple vanadium compounds were first considered for use in various supporting electrolytes: vanadium trichloride (VCl3), vanadium pentoxide (V 2 O 5), and vanadyl sulphate (VOSO 4) were each considered with hydrochloric acid (HCl), sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sulfuric acid (H2 SO 4) .
