What are mono PERC solar panels?

Mono PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) solar panels are a type of photovoltaic (PV) module that has gained popularity in recent years due to their improved efficiency and performance. Solar panels are the building blocks of solar energy systems, converting sunlight into electricity through the photovoltaic effect.

What is the difference between PERC and mono crystalline solar cells?

Mono PERC solar cells present local back surface fields (BSF) atop passivation and SINx capping layers, which significantly improves the capture of light and electrons compared to standard monocrystalline cells. This results in greater internal reflectivity and a reduction of electron recombination.

Are mono-crystalline panels cheaper than PERC modules?

In terms of cost, mono-crystalline (standard) panels are slightly cheaper compared to perc modules. The extra cost associated with the use of passivated layers in mono-perc modules increases the overall pricing. However, if we compare price with per unit of energy produced – then it is the same for both modules.

What is PERC & how does it work?

PERC stands for Passivated Emitter & Rear Cell is a modern technology used to increase the efficiency of standard solar modules. This is done by adding a passivated layer in the rear of the cell. Note: The passivated layer can be added in all types of PV modules (i.e. Poly, Mono & others).
